I cannot be the only one out here who is beyond tired of these ultra-conservative, fundamental people out here who are railing against LGBT rights. How many times can we say that this not an indictment of YOUR PERSONAL FEELINGS, rather a civil right? To lobby for legislation to ban gay football players from the NFL is beyond ridiculous. Jason Collins played his first game since admitting he is gay, but the vitriol has been horrible. Arizona passes an anti-LGBT bill allowing store owners to deny service to customers. Really?? Are you really equating this to “no shirt, no shoes, no service?” Ugh. Shall we discuss Uganda’s anti-gay law?
Look, I am far from being a social conservative on MANY fronts. There isn’t one person out there who could sway me to consider allegiance to such polarizing tenets. I love my conservative, Baptist family to the fullest, but we are at odds when it comes to LBGT equality. This has been deeply rooted in Faith and religion for so long! Just because I defend the rights of the LGBT community, that does not show a kink in my spiritual armor, much to the chagrin of several people. Are you telling me that such support will land me in Hell? Your condemnation only shows a lack of self-forgiveness and situational support that clearly flies in the face of the multifaceted characteristics of being a believer. Yes, social conservatives, I call you to the floor. I commend you on the steadfast conviction to your principles, but I believe you are on the wrong side of history and progress with the same.
Let’s get down to brass tacks… and I will play the advocate role for you. You don’t like the flamboyant, outward appearance of some folks. Always looking for attention and what better way to do this than to behave differently than a ‘civilized’ community. Oh, and the affection and sexual aspects of it all make me sick to my stomach. Such sick people. We can’t run them out of town, beat them up, or anything because we could get in trouble, so let’s lobby and LEGISLATE them out. That is much easier than having to get past our own internal differences and learn to live with one another. *Zorak blink* There are plenty of flamboyant folks with a different outward appearance that are heterosexual. Don’t forget some of the attention whores who will “do it for the vine,” not because it’s cute, but really… because they crave the attention… and attend the same church, sing the same hymns, eat in the same cafeteria, manage your daily work, etc.. Oh no, they’re uncivilized. Forgot that. Regarding the affection and intimacy, if ONLY YOU KNEW how “perverse” straight people can be! Wait… you DO KNOW, but it’s considered “healthy” to have a “creative” romp in the bed. Such sickos, right?
Look, for all of the folks across the world, let alone the United States, let’s really get over ourselves and stop being so darn fractured over things that ultimately will not stop you from achieving Nirvana, entrance into the Holy Gates, etc.. We are not going to hell in a hand basket, but maybe we should redouble our efforts on reducing more destructive behaviors. I mean, guns don’t kill people. Capitalism doesn’t ruin households. The Common Core really IS a great concept. My tongue is really stuck in my cheek after all of this.
